Remote Airport Lighting Systems III

Description

Sponsored by FAA Visual Guidance
This project is to develop low cost low power lighting systems that can be deployed at remote airports. There is a need for lighting at rural airports that serve communities providing a transportation link to meet time critical needs such as emergency medical services. The communities served by the rural airports may not have sufficient infrastructure to provide reliable low cost power for lighting. The low cost lighting of rural airports will improve community safety by providing a time critical transportation link.
The RALS project will provide low cost / low power lights at remote airports to allow safe operation during hours of darkness.
